How do I control my DirecTv receiver with the Sony RM-YD010 remote? Called both companies (DirecTv and Sony) w/o success. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Just wondering if you found an answer yet to your problem. I am having the same problem. I called Sony and they said it couldn't be done and Directv was no help.

Let me know what you have found!

Thanks!

There's no code for a DirectTV receiver, so the only thing you can do is to try each of the codes (there's only about a dozen of them) listed and if none of them work, then there is no help for you.

FYI--none of the DirecTV codes worked. I suppose a universal remote is the only remaining option.

I have the same problem w/ a new Sony LCD. Sony Remote RM-YD010
Can't program a code for the Direct TV receiver. This stinks.

I have a Sony RM-AV2100 remote and that one doesn't accept a code either.

I think I would have the same problem if I bought the Sony RM-AX4000 remote.

No fix for this I guess.

So far the only oem remotes with a code for the current line of directv receiver are made by UEI, the maker of the white directv remote. The code in those UEI made remotes is either 01377 or 1377.

I also have a Samsung LCD and the Samsung remote does accept a code to operate the Direct TV receiver.

I emailed Sony to express my disappointment about this, and requested info on a future resolution to this, if at all possible.

I will post it when I get their reply.

Quick response from Sony.
I also asked about the RM-AX4000, to see if this would work, but I did not get an answer for that one.

Thank you for contacting Sony Online Support.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced while programming the KDL-40XBR2 television remote RM-YD010 to operate Direct TVF receiver.
The manufacturer codes provided for programming a remote control to operate a component not manufactured by Sony (third-party component) may not work, or may not work properly, for several reasons. The most common reason is that the component being programmed is newer than the remote control, and the remote control has not been tested for functionality with the component.

Try programming the remote control using the codes listed for the other manufacturers within the component type. If the remote still does not control the component, you can try using the code listed in the manual for other component types.

In addition, some remote controls have a search feature that will allow you to test each code on the component. Refer to the instructions specific to the remote control for further assistance. If none of the supplied codes work, the remote control will not be able to communicate with the component. Use the remote control supplied with the component to operate the device.

We hope this information is helpful to you. If you need any further assistance do feel free to contact us. We will be glad to assist you.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance.
