Just got the VL610 and found the right code for the Dish Network VIP 612 remote(3020...not 3010,3014,3025 as suggested in the code pamphlet). Luckily with the code, it recognizes almost all the buttons I use, but not "skip forward" which I use the most. Unfortunately I can't get the sony vl610 to learn any buttons from it, so I can't assign skip forward to its applicable button. I'm quite surprised that it can't learn from the dish remote since reviews I've read suggested that it would and it has learnt from my TV and soundbar remotes. Anyone else run into this problem or have a solution?
Update: OK. The remote address on the receiver seems to dictate which code will work with the vl610. So I changed the remote address on the receiver and used code 3010 for the vl610 and now the skip forward button equivalent on the vl610 works. Still can't learn from the dish remote though. Interestingly, the Dish VIP722 receiver remote can be learnt from on the vl610. Go figure.
