I have a new Sony STR-DG910 receiver and am having problems finding universal codes for it. I have a URC-300 Customizer remote which actually picked up code 372 off the receiver in AV2 Command Mode, however would not work in AV1 picking up the standard Sony codes. Problem is I need Descrete On and Off so I need to be in AV1 mode but appears the RM-AAP016 cannot be switched from AV2(I tried everything in the top post). I am a JP1 user and was hoping to discover the Descretes(And then learn them on my URC-300)but this can only be done in AV1.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. Anyone have experience with codes for the DG910 or know if the RM-AAP016 can be switched to AV1.

Anybody know of the common Sony codes for the DG series of receivers.

Thanks

If you tried everything in the AV1/AV2 thread for the STR-DG800 and STR-DG1000 receiver and remote, and nothing works, then it's possible, but unlikely, that Sony didn't provide for a command code change in both the receiver and remote for the STR-DG910.

I went through the entire manual, page by page, and didn't see one word about changing either command code. This is nothing new because if you look at the thread you will see several remotes where readers reported the procedure, which wasn't in the manual.

When you are sure you have tried everything, then we will have to conclude it can't be changed or there is some new method that may be hard to identify.

As for the discrete codes, you can find them here [Link: hifi-remote.com]

Then, click on Setup Codes and click on amp to find the codes for the Sony.

Then, click on Advanced Code List and check out each code for the Sony and see which one is the best for your purposes.

Of course, if you can't get the darned receiver to change to AV1, this won't help.

Leave the receiver and oem remote set to AV2 codeset, get yourself a OFA remote that takes 5 digit advanced codes, like urc-6820, 8820, or 10820. Use the 5 digit advanced codes for setup code 1758 in this thread:

Thanks For your help - I guess what is confusing me is how to determine if a specific Sony code provided is for AV1 or AV2 - Are you saying these OFA setup codes are for AV2 mode. What's odd is my remote URC-300 had a Sony code of 372 and it works in AV2, but none of the other remote codes in the manual would work in AV1, and it was my understanding that AV1 was necessary for Universal Remotes, but that wasn't the case in my situation. I have been talking to others on [Link: hifiremote.com] have an old URC6131 which I could use to learn to my URC-300) and none of them believe there even is a 372 Sony code(Doesn't show up on all the Sony databases, even though its in my remptes manual and works on my new 910 receiver. So my delemma is finding the Discrete Power on and off, but it needs to be the AV2 version, which I am sure is going to be a challenge since this info is not decernable.

Any thoughts.

Thanks for all your help

So are you saying the One For Alls use AV2 for their codes. If so, i could use it to learn to my URC-300 wonce I put the descrete in there.

OFA remotes have preset codes for all sony codesets. AV1, AV2, and Dream system. But most OFA remote that have preset code AUD 1758, don't accept advanced codes. But the model I listed above using the advanced codes in the link I provided, do.

The urc-6131 is one of OFA remoes that don't accept advanced codes for code 1758.

So once you have the 5 digit advanced codes for discrete ON & OFF mapped to keys on one above models of OFA remote, you can teach them to your urc-300.

Thanks - But if you think 1758 will work form My Sony in AV2, my URC6131 has that code, and if that works , I can just send an Descrete Codes I need to my URC6131 via JP1 upgrade, and then teach it to my URC-300. I will try tonight to see if 1758 works.

Thnaks for your help

Just checked out the service manuals and they have no reference to AV1, AV2 in them, so the assumption should be made that it cannot be altered.
