Hope this does not sound tooooo stupid, but is the RMAV3100 a more advanced remote than the "3000" was. Neither is any longer available.

I guess I should also ask, was the RMAV3100 Sony's top of the line programmable remote????

Thankx!

The AV 4000 is the most advanced. The 3100 was more of an incremental improvement (someone correct me if I am wrong). The 4000 is PC programmable and has some other advanced features which can be found in these Sony threads.

Reading the review from here onwards will desribe what's different between the RM-AV3100 and RM-AV3000.

Where does the RM-NX7000 remote fall into the Sony line?? I know its discontinued. I have one in a box that was returned from a client we sold 5 to, He didnt like them so asked us to remove them..hes not a touchscreen kind of guy..likes hard buttons

I used one of the RM-NX7000's at home for awhile and found it to be kinda fun. I liked the touch engine feed back on the touchscreen buttons

I never got into the custom buttons but did a few backgrounds on a few pages

Rawjr..... Thankx! a Gigabyte for the mention of the "4000".

You had put AV4000, but I think you meant AX4000. In any case I was able to find it and it looks like a better choice on multiple levels.

4000 remote is a bad choice, bad software, time consuming to program, maybe for an individual to use and and program, but for an AV company, way too time consuming, i have programed several hundred Sony 2100's, 3000's and 3100's and about 3 4000's. Good idea, bad software.

"cb"... don't hold anything back now LOL!

Sincerely, thankx! I have closed my mind to this one and I will keep looking for the "5000" or other alternatives. I lost out on an RMNX7000 by a few moments/$$$ earlier today.

It sounds like you also never had any of the battery life problems that others are citing in here. What's you take on the possible reasons, since if it were all of these units, at an $799.99 original retail, I would have thought we would have heard a lot more about it..... if they sold in any kind of quantity.

Thankx!

We sold 5 to a client and he didnt like them so we took them back, one of them I took homeand used for a few weeks and then sold it to buy an RTI remote, the others were sold on ebay.

We have one left and its going to ebay if not already there

I never experienced any battery issues, although on my sony laptop I am on my 4th battery in 2 1/2 years
