I have looked but cannot find a way to set the backlight to automaticaly turn on when you touch the lcd screen.
It is the only bad thing about the remote. Since the buttons are virtual, you almost have to look at the remote to see what buttons are where. In the dark this is impossible and thus you have to find the backlight button first before using the virtual buttons you want.
It would be great if you could set it to automatically turn on the light when any button is touched. (Even better, have a cheapo light sensor that would cause this operation automatically in the dark). Are you listening sony???

This is indeed one feature that's missing, but the backlight button isn't that hard to find...

In response to "Re: Can Backlight be set to auto?" by Daniel Tonks on 14/10/98 12:32:22:
But, I've noticed, if you hit the light button first, it will turn on the remote and set the LCD screen to the last piece of equipment you were using. This is true even if the remote has turned off automatically.
