I really need the 'general' Component Code to program the Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver/amp so that my Sony remote (RM-V3000) will control it. The Sony manual says that there are four 'Component Code Numbers' that I can use (4102, 4014, 4030, and 4046). None of these work or have all of the basic operating keys (DVD, Tape, VCR etc) for the devices that the remote has. The remote copyright date says 2002. My amp was purchased in 2005. Is there a new Yamaha Code??
Thanks
Ray

There is no general component code, and since there are so many variations of receiver/amp formats there is no one code that will control everything you need.
Since your amp was purchased in 2005, you should still be in possession of an operating remote. Combine that with the fact that the 3000 is a very powerful learning remote, and you will have the ability to learn all of the missing commands.
Just pick one of the four codes that gives you the most control and learn the rest.
