I am in the market for a remote, I love the design of the 2500, but saw the newer model 3000.

Is the 3000 really a better remote? I can actually get the 3000 for less than the 2500, makes me have a feeling that the 3000 isn't as good as the 2500. I am 100% clueless on remote controls. I setup/configued my home theater setup myself and learned quite a bit.

I am running a custom build media PC, a Denon AVR-485 Receiver, Onkyo DV-SP502 DVD player, and a Viore 42" EDTV (PDP4210EA).

I like the idea of having a programmed macro that can handle everything for me. In the mornings i like to turn on music, which requires opening Windows Media Player, turning on the receiver and setting it to VCR.

The Viore EDTV is about the cheapest plasma ever built, so I am not sure if this remote will even work with it.

So my questions are...
1) Will the 2500/3000 work with my setup?
2) Why would I get the 3000 over the 2500 if I think the design of the 2500 looks better?
3) Can I setup a macro so I can play WMP on my computer, and change the receiver input to VCR?
4) Is the warranty only 3 months? If so, why? What kind of company can release a product that is only warrantied for 3 months? Makes you have little respect for the remote.

Ahhh... and now I see there is a 4000 model!!

Dammit, the choices we have to make these days. The 4000 model looks better imo than the other two above, plus it comes with a 1 yr warranty.

Anyone know if this can configure a PC to run macros on the PC as well? Like have a USB sensor plugged in somewhere and the remote uses that to run the macro on the computer.

3000,3100,2500,4000. In order they came out in STAY AWAY FROM THE 4000
lots of issues. 3000 AND 3100 are pretty close to the same 3100 has a few more features, get the 3100, havent messed with the 2500, I would still get the 3100 over any of the other ones.
Keep in mind, with any universal remote, havinf discrete codes is the key to the remote working smoothly.
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Any way to see if there are codes for my components? Also, the 3100 has a lame 3 month warranty, meaning the company can't stand behind their product.

The 3100 is also out of production since you are bashing!
If the codes are not available, just learn everything you need.(I recommend that anyway)
