I have an OLEVIA LCD TV with multiple inputs and I want to use one button to turn my amp, and tv on and change the input on the tv to a component input.

The problem is that the TV toggles through the inputs so whenever I program the remote for this I can not get to the proper input....what am I missing????

Thanks much

You're not missing anything, but without discrete codes, which are probably not available for your model TV, you will have to find another way to do this.

The easiest way to make the macro is to determine if your TV will go back to the TV input by pressing the channel up or down button, or even any channel number.

If it does, make a macro with one of these commands to get you back to a standard start point, which is the tv input, and then insert the necessary number of commands to get you to the input you want.

Thanks Ron,
I went to the olevia site and they claim that codes for LG, PHILLIPS, RCA will work with my tv...and then I went to OFA site and pulled up advanced, and discrete controls which I printed out ...now I need to know how to get these into my 3100 to see if they will control the various inputs....can you help???

Thanks Much

Take the print out and reduce it to a 3x8 size, the feed it through the top of the 3100,
just above the IR transmitter, the 3100 will read the codes and save them on an unused component page on the 3100, press other twice and look for the label
"Magic codes"

Good to know you can find some codes to work with your TV, because I was pretty sure there were no Olevia codes. The link below will help get you started on using the advanced/discrete codes you found. Basically, you have to get a OneForAll remote (or one of the few Radio Shack remotes still available), press the setup (or similar named) button, then enter the 3 or 5 digit advanced/discrete code, and if your TV is on it should perform its function on the TV.

If it works, you can then repeat the process with the 3100 in learn mode and teach the command to the 3100, either in a place where you can use it all the time, or on another screen where you can use it in a macro.

Click here to learn about advanced/discrete codes and which RS/OFA remote to use.

Nice try, cb1. You made me go look at my 3100, but it must be the older model because there is no slot. Should I order a new one.

It's not April 1st again, is it?
