I can get one new for $488. I do not have Sony components but I do have around six or seven components to wrap up into one remote. Do you feel this is a nice remote for $488 + tax or should I look elsewhere? I am drawn to the color touch screen and the ability to totally customize it. Once setup, is the operation of this remote simple enough for someone with no A/V familiarity to use? (Namely my wife and kids). Has anyone done a formal review of this remote? I did a quick search but did not find anything. Thank you!
Never mind... I am going to go with the Pronto TSU7000. Dang, I am sold on the something awful... I don't suppose the Sony can match wits with the Pronto??
Yeah umm Sony, yeah I'm going to have to ask you to replace the batteries, mmm kay? Yeah and ahh I'm going to have to ask you to develop some software since it has been out for 2 years now. How's that sound? Super...
I'm not sure what it is about Sony engineers and batteries- I had the same issue with my 9000es remote (but at least they were chargable AA's) I had to send my unit back to a Sony repair center becuase there is a well organized 9000es preamp group that had all the factory recall tech reports listed.
If more than 5 people (myself being one of them) had bought this unit - they would probably have to do a factory repair.
