Ron you have helped me in the past. I have a Sony Receiver STR-DA1000 ES and I am trying to learn those codes over to another Sony remote (RM-VL900). I am trying to learn the code for "Input Selector" from the Receiver remote, the problem is that remote does not seem to have an IR signal associated with that function. It has a digital display where I toggle thru the input selections (DVD, TV, Tape etc) and then once I highlight the correct input, I push the toggle in to select. I can learn the push button of the toggle, just not the up and down movement. Confusing I know, any help would be great. Thanks Neil-

When you toggle to the selection you want, and press the send button (whatever you call it), a signal is sent to the receiver to tell it to do what you want. This signal is obviously different for each selection or the receiver wouldn't know what to do, so just learn that signal. You will have to learn each individual command that you want on different buttons on the 900. May take more buttons than you want to use, but that is the only way.
There is no signal for input selector because it wouldn't do you any good anyway to learn it on your 900, since the signal you really need is the one generated as I said above.

Even worse, I now have the telephone tone version as used in "Short Circuit 2" stuck in my head. :-P
