Howdy,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use discrete codes with this remote? I own the remote and, after reading the instructions, think not. Regardless, I'd love to program this think to select an input device on my TV specifically (vs clicking input serveral times).

Thanks!!

Colin

No, it can't accept any type of discrete code.

This is not exactly correct. The RM_VL710 will accept any code that can be transmitted to it, including discrete codes; the problem getting hold of a remote to learn from. I have programmed discrete AV codes into the 710 using a Phillips Pronto Pro RU980 and I assume that any similar remote can do this (high end Sony?).

Otherwise a work-a-round might be able to be found by creating a macro, if you have either a TV that defaults to a set AV on switch off/on (you then have to add the necessary number of "enters" into the macro) or if there is an alternate way to select AV's (some Philips use coloured buttons to control multiple functions- the buttons on mine shifts AV's or screen aspects or teletext...depending on the previous key sequence - check your handbook for some of these more unusual functions).

Hope this helps.

Learning a command from another remote, is not accepting a discrete code. It would be nice to read a code off the internet and punch it in to the vl710 without the need for a second remote, but you can't. I standby my post.
