I just recently bought the 2500 and am pleased with it, with one exception. I want to set it up so my wife can push one button to play a dvd. All works with the exception of the video 1 video 2..etc from the television. The tv is a sony. I need to get it to video 2 to show the dvd on the tv. I have read some about discreet codes, but honestly, I am confused. Do I have to purchase a radi shack remote? If so, then what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Page 14 of your manual shows an interesting concept which is aptly named "About the input select of a TV".

Follow the instructions and you won't have a problem selecting a particular video input in your macro.

All you need to do is to pick any unused component screen, assign component code 8077, and then use the numeric button, which corresponds to the input you need, in your macro.

The function only works for Sony TV's. For the Panasonic TV, the easiest way is to make a macro with the number of input commands to get you to the correct input.

If you want to get into discrete codes, then click here to learn about advanced/discrete codes.

Ron,
I can buy or borrow the proper rs remote to do this. However, before I do I want to make sure I have the code. It's a brand new panasonic tv with many video inputs..vid 1, vid 2, vid, 3, hdmi, component 1, cmponent 2, component 3, pc.

I need it connected to component 1 input and I don't see anything similar listed in charts.

If it is not listed or available, you can always use the closest discrete code to that input, and then put one input button in the macro to advance the tv input one notch.

There is no guarantee that all of the codes will work with a particular device, especially since these are older codes and newer tv's have more sophisticated inputs. The best thing is to borrow, or buy where you can return, the remote and try it out.

Here's one more list of codes for your tv, which you probably found by now but I will give it anyway.
