I programmed System 1, 2, and 3 buttons on my AV3000.
The problem is that in between each comand there is about 3 to 4 second delay. It takes a long time to go througt 4 command macro. I would like to make the delay as short as possible. I have checked SYSDELAY, it is set to 100ms by default, so I do not understand where the delay is comming from. Can anybody help me please?

I believe you, but I don't know how this could happen. Even with a 900ms (almost one second) there would only be that much delay between commands.

What kind of device are you making the macro's for?

Check out the following and be sure to clear your system control keys (although 2 shouldn't be affected).

Ron,

Thank you very much for speedy response.
I have: Hitachi ultavision projection TV,
dvd player Denon DVD-2200, and 5.1 receiver Onkyo
TX-SR500.

I relearned the TV commands, this time making sure that I keep the button down until AV3000 beeps.
It works ok now. I did not write correctly when I
said that it had pauses between the commands. The TV
input switching was taking long time (5 seconds), which gave me a hint. It just looked that there was a pause between the commnds. When I looked at the LCD I noticed that the "IR transmitting" sign was active
for long time, so it was not a pause but the transmitting IR code process itself.

I am a happy Sony AV3000 user now.

Gasha

PS
If anybody has Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver discrete codes for ON and OFF, as well as the Auto, Multichannel, and
Analog input select, I would appreciate it a lot.
Toggle codes should be illegal.

These are the discrete codes for Onkyo receivers. As you can see, none of the codes you want are listed. Sorry about that. Most Onkyo receiver remotes use separate keys for On and Off/Standby, so I guess they never planned on needing discrete codes for power functions. And you are right-toggle codes should be banned for life.

There's nothing really WRONG with toggle codes, the problem lies where they're the ONLY option. Ensuring that toggles all have appropriate discrete codes would be the best option. :-)

I think that's what we both meant, that there is sometimes no other option. You are right about the best option, but of course that is up to the manufacturer, and some of them are not very cooperative.

Guys,

Thank you for your help anyway.
I will stick to turn-on-turn-off-everything-always.

I am thinking about buying a Denon receiver (I need more Watts anyway). Denon has Power Off and Power On as two buttons on the remote, as well as separate buttons for Dolby Surround, 5ch/7ch Stereo (multichannel), and Stereo.

Thank you.

Denon's pretty good. Yamaha is killer in discrete codes.

I haven't been left wanting for much on my Marantz, it's got power, inputs, soundfields, etc., although it could perhaps use a way to discretely select an analog or digital version on a single input (you can have both analog & digital audio assigned to one input - there's not a lot of inputs on the SR-18EX so this is sometimes needed - and toggle between the two via a button, but there's no way to select specifically one or the other).
