Hello,

I bought a Sony HT-DDWG700. I did a forum search and found nothing about this model, only about the older DDW700. None of the methods here appear to switch the command mode from AV2 to AV1.

Does anyone else have this?

Thanks!

Unless Mr Mod works another of his miracles, it doesn't look like it can be changed.

The Amplifier used in the HT-DDWG700 system is the STR-KG700, I have checked the user and service manuals for this unit and there is no reference to changing the AV1/2 modes.
So i would say if you have tried all of the above methods this Amplifier is unable to have its code set changed.
Is there a particular reason you need to change it?

Thanks for the answers. I was hoping to get it to work with the DISH Universal remote, it sucks having to handle two remotes. My previous receiver (Panasonic) did not have this problem, it's hard to understand why Sony is different.

Hi, I can't seem to get my RM-AAU039 remote to switch modes using those instructions. I have a STR-DA3400ES and the instructions for the receiver and the primary remote worked.

Any ideas?

Are you holding all 3 buttons down at the same time? Other than that, I have no ideas at all. The instructions "Press and hold "Display", then press and hold "MUTING" and the "+" at the same time" were taken directly from the manual.

If you can't get it to work, you could try posting this in the Agoraquest Forum, which specializes in Sony receivers and remotes.

OK, I looked in the manual [p. 39] myself and I realized that the "+" button was not the volume up [which has a + on it] but the center button of the 4-way selector. Even then the timing took a couple tries but it works now. Thanks.

i tried changing the command mode of my STR-dg920, which seems to be cross listed as the STR-DA2400, so I could use my Tivo Series 3 remote with the receiver. I can't seem to change the mode of the 920, but I could change the mode of the remote that came with the 920. The remote is a RM-AAP023. It seems like the remote can change between AV1 and AV2 using the procedure mentioned, but I can't get the receiver to change. The receiver defautls to AV2. Any ideas?

I found the manual for the STR-DA2400ES and it gives the procedures for changing the command modes of both the receiver and remote on page 37, so it should work, but one never knows with Sony manuals. Here's the link. [Link: docs.sony.com]

If it doesn't work for the receiver, it could be similar to the problems encountered with the STR-DE485/495/585/595 series receivers that does not allow you to change the command mode on the receivers but it does on the remote. It seems as if Sony leaves that capability off of the lower end models of the receiver line, for some odd reason.

The service manual also states the same:

COMMAND MODE CHANGE MODE

The command mode of the remote-commander which this set receives can be changed.
Procedure:
1. While pressing the [2CH/A. DIRECT] button, press the [POWER] button to turn on the main power.
2. Either the message “C. MODE AV1” or “C. MODE AV2” appears.
Select the desired mode.

I just installed a new STR-DG920. Sadly, it appears just different enough from the DA2400 to not include the ability to switch controller modes. Pages 35-36 in the DG920 manual are similar to what is shown for the DA2400, minus the ability to switch modes.

I guess it is time to use the learning feature of my Sony VL900, but it will be a shame not to be able to use the TiVo Peanut remote too.

Sadly I can also confirm that the STR-DG920 does not switch to AV1 with this. Still looking for a way to do this, and rather upset that last year's model (DG910) and it's high-end "twin" (DA2400) both support this while the 920 does not. It's driving my wife nuts, which in turn is driving me nuts.

Just wanted to mention that the Sony STR-K760P CAN be changed. I think. At least by holding down "Enter" while turning it on I can toggle between the 2 modes. However, my remote (RM-U755) seems to be broken, so I can't actually verify at the moment that it does work.

Hope that helps. Thanks for the fantastic post!

Hi, I am new on the forum.

None of the codes for DVD, satellite, or VCR work, so I must be missing something. Do I have to be in Command Mode AV2 to program the remote? If so, how do I get the receiver itself to respond to power-on button in AV1? Power On is factory programmed to the default AV2.

I just tried to program a RM-LG112 with the learning function and now see that according to my manual, the learning function only all applies to the RM-PG412. Can you confirm this?
