For my RCA DVD/TV:
1. I need a sleep timer set for 20 or 30 minutes by pushing one button.
2. I would like to have the TV wake me up at 9am by pushing one button.

Is this possible? Thanks!

1. No. You cannot set a sleep timer on the AV3000. You would have to set the Timer function, which is not practical because you would not use it at the same time every night.
2. Yes. You can set a Timer macro to turn on the TV at 9am, and even specify which days you want it to work (Monday thru Friday, etc). I gather that is what you mean by pushing one button. But you would not really have to push a button, unless you had turned the timer off for some reason.

Hmm, could I make three different TV-turnoff timers? - perhaps 9pm, 10pm and 11pm? Do you have to specify a day when you initiate a timer?

In other words, could I push a button, on any day, that would send a power off command at 9pm that night??

You can set up to 12 timer programs. You can also set a specific day, set Mon-Fri, Mon-Sat, or everyday. You would have to turn on or turn off each individual program manually. You can also relabel each of the timer keys to show which program you have loaded to that key. For your situation, the best programming would be to set each timer that you use for every day (Sun through Sat), then set the individual times (you could set 9pm, 930, 10, etc) and then just turn on the one you wanted to use that night, making sure to turn off any previous timer buttons. The AV3000 will let you know which are set by showing a solid label; the ones not set would blink.

I got an RCA TV/DVD for Christmas. After reading your question I thought it would be a good idea to have a button that would turn on the sleep timer automatically especially since I'm not as familiar with the RCA menu and the menu's color scheme is hard for me to read. I used one of the macro buttons to do it. I wrote down all of the steps as I used the menu to set the sleep timer for 30 minutes. Then I programmed the macro to do the following:

TV2
MENU
5
1
UP
UP
MENU
0
0

Now I press one button and the sleep timer is set for 30 minutes. Your RCA TV/DVD menu may be slightly different but I think you will get the idea.
