It seems that the STR-K840P is not a factory default on the AV3000. Is there a code? What is the best way to teach the AV3000 its functions if there is not code?

You need to change the code your receiver responds to, then and only then will the preprogrammed codes in the AV-3000 work. To change the code;

On the front of the receiver, push the SETUP button.
Press the left or right directional button, until the display on the front of the receiver reads C. MODE AV2.

On the the JOG DIAL control, press the plus(+) or minus(-) button until C. MODE changes in the display to C. MODE AV1.

THANK YOU. A thousand times over, thank you. With ZERO help from the Sony website and even less from the Sony techs, I was about to throw the AV3000 out the window (seriously). Where ever did you get that information? Thanks again!
