I think we've established that VisionTouch receivers (ones ending with a 'G'
it seems like) won't work on the 2000 without at least the mods mentioned.
Now, the DA80ES isn't described as a VisionTouch, and doesn't end in a 'G',
but seems otherwise similar to the 90 (I've never compared their remotes) so
could I assume that the 2000 will work with it?

Yes it will work. Not so much about the GUI, but becuase the remote is normal and doesn't run at the weird freqency that the 90esg remote runs at.
