Default Mode State Problem

I have a Sony VCR which defaults to Antenna mode when the power is switched off/on.

I have cable hooked up through my DBS box and then to my VCR. I use the VCR's tuner to change the channels of my cable feed. In order to get the sound to match the picture I have to have the VCR set to 'VTR' mode.

The problem is that I have set up macros which set the system up to switch between cable and DBS sources. The macros assume that the VCR is in 'VTR' mode. Inserting a ANT/SW command into the macros causes serious synchronization issues if one pushes the wrong button (eg. DBS source already selected but re-selecting DBS mode anyways would cause the DBS box to switch to cable (toggle) and the VCR to switch to 'Antenna'.

The bottom line is that most of the commands toggle and for the macros to work one has to know the starting state. Is there a way to direct program the state of the VCR's Antenna selector?

Thanks.

Nope. The closest thing is that Sony TV's can select the specific input by pressing TV/Video + 1, or whatever number the input you want is. 0 is Antenna.

However, I'm nearly positive that this will NOT work for the Sony VCR. But you may want to check your manual and see if you can work around that. A little ingenuity may do the trick. (Perhaps, by configuring the Option button to run Sony TV's but learning the VCR's remote???)
