Hi - I am currently thinking of purchasing an AV2000. I have been reading the messages in this forum and am worried that I may be wasting my money. One of the main things that I would like the AV2000 to do is to be able to use menu functions on TV's, VCR's, Cable Box's, etc. I would also like it to pull up the channel guide on my cable box and switch sound fields on my receiver. I have a Sony STR-DE915 receiver, CDP-CX55 CD Player, RCA VCR, Sony KV-32V65 TV, and a General Instrument Digital Cable Box. Is it also true that you cannot change the button labels? What kind of functions are the two-way remotes capable of? Do I have to worry about my remote becoming obsolete quickly? Thank you everyone in advance for your assistance.

Jason,

for what you get, the AV2000 is a great buy. It will control all of the equipment you mention, but here's a quick tip for you. Use the built-in codes to control as many finctions as you can, THEN start learning the functions of the remotes that are not built in. You'll save memory and time that way.

No you cannot change the labels, but you will quickly learn to remember where you have functions programmed.

However, in my limited experience, women HATE this thing. But other than that one caveat, it's a good choice, and as good as you'll get for the money.

As far as the 2-way remotes, it's not an issue for you unless you already have one and a unit that it controls. Don't worry about it.
