Has anybody seen the remote that comes with the Sony TA-E9000ES pre-amp? It is a touch screen remote that blows away the RM-AV2000. I called Sony and they said it is universal and the model number is RM-TP501E for $330. They are out of stock until middle of March. Does anybody have any information on this 2-way remote? Are there cheaper sources for Sony parts? I've had my 2000 for a couple of weeks and it works fine, BUT this new one looks VERY VERY COOL. If anybody is interested, there is a picture of it in the latest Crutchfield catalog on page 101.

Several things. Two-way communications only work with the E9000ES pre-amp, the DA50ES receiver (which both include it anyways) and maybe one or two other Sony models. Plus, it's not a learning remote. You can't change anything - you may only use it's built-in codes (which are fairly limited). Basically it's useless unless you own the equipment it was designed for. Plus, early models (without the E) had serious problems with backlighting and battery life.

I'd rather see Sony develop the RM-AV2000 further - smaller size, better touchscreen, more hard buttons.

I agree that Sony should further develop the RM-AV2000, but at what price. A friend of mine just bought the Pronto and I was very impressed. I think it's the ultimate remote on the market right now. I just can't convince myself to spend 3 times what I spent for my Sony ... who knows, maybe I will. I'm still lusting for the Pronto.
