I have a 32" Sony TV, about 5 years old. I alos have an ES series receiver, which came with a nice learning remote. I was able to successfully program all the PIP stuff into this remote, but it is broken big time now. About a year ago, I called Sony, and they wanted $130 USD for it - I don't know if they even carry it today (rm-p321). As I no longer have my tiny little remote that came with the TV, I bought a RadioShack universal remote - it doesn't do PIP. Can the RM-AV2000 do PIP w/o requiring the old controller to program it? I did not see this listed in their specs.

As far as I remember no PIP functions are built-in. There's buttons for it, but no pre-programmed codes. Sorry!

Wow, I'm somewhat surprised that the 2000 doesn't have Sony PIP codes preprogged. Unfortunately, my 1-model-too-cheap 27V20 has no PIP to begin with.

Mark, I have a new-in-box RM-P501 programmable 1997 model-year receiver remote, (from a STR-DE715, DA80ES and perhaps others) with a number of preprogrammed Sony PIP functions, available for sale if you are interested.

Kaz,
Are you still interested in selling your RM-P501?
I have a STR-GA8ES without a remote
