My Sony TV has 4 inputs, TV/Video1/Video2/Video3. Does the Sony universal remote have buttons to directly select an input? The remote that came with the TV has a TV/Video button that cycles through the inputs. This makes programming any universal difficult when I want to switch between TV/DSS/DVD/VCR.

Thanks

Yup, it has this feature. You hit TV/Video + a number button: 0 for Tuner and 1 through 6 for video inputs. This only comes pre-programmed for Sony sets, but you *can* program different IR codes to these buttons.

I'm not sure what the above post is refering to, but the AV2000 as a TV/Video button just like the one that came with the TV. As you press the button it cycles through: TV, Video 1, Video 2, Video 3.

Chris: Sony also has DIRECT access codes - it jumps directly to Video 2, Tuner, Cideo 4, etc. instead of cycling through them in order.

Newer Sony TV's have quite a few signals built-in that aren't duplicated on the remote, such as the above and dedicated ON and OFF buttons.

Now, in the manual, they say the "direct access codes" (TV/Video + 0-6) can be programmed for other TVs. I don't see how that's done. I like the way it works for my Sony TV, but it would be neat to be able to do this for tuner/Line1/Line2 of my VCRs, for example.

Anyone get this to work?

Kaz: I haven't heard of a VCR with that feature yet...
