I have recently purchased the Sony RM-AV2000 to reduce my 9 remotes for my Sony Home Theater system and after pre-programmed and learned set-up was completed I discovered that there is one button that I can't seem to operate and that is the 5.1/DVD function on the Sony STRDE625 Dolby Digital "AC-3 Ready Pro Logic Receiver. All the other receiver functions work fine. Also the remote works fine with the Sony DVPS500D DVD, Sony SLV775HF VCR, Sony CDPCX220 200 Disc CD Changer, General Instruments Cable Box and Sony Trinitron 32" TV. The only piece of equipment that I have not added to the remote is the Sony SDPE800 AC-3 processor because I am waiting for a Satellite solution for my area. And to my amazement when I called Sony at their 800# and they were surprised that I was able to get as far as I did especially since I am using just about all Sony products. Any one have any solutions other then listening to Sony tell me to use the STRDE625 receiver remote for the 5.1/DVD function. My only other gripe with the remote so far is that the backlight will not illuminate the keys so I have to turn on the room lights to see them until I can memorize their location.

I have a Sony GS8ES, so I only know how it operates.

The "5.1" button on the remote operated indipendantly of what video mode you're in - you can press it in Video 1, TV, LD, CD, whatever and it selects the 5.1 inputs. However, it also remembers where you last pressed it and if you leave it on will automatically re-select it next time you use that component. The 5.1 button programmed fine on my AV2000.

If you could clairify, does yours operate this way or is it dedicated to a certain component ie you push "5.1/DVD" and it selects DVD and 5.1 input, while if you just push "DVD" it uses ProLogic?
