I just ordered mine from J&R after being screwed over at the Sony Store. Kirk at J&R was helpful, friendly, had them in stock and is sending me one up to Canada for $115 + $11.50 shipping (Parcel Post).
Kudos to J&R (www.jandr.com)

:)
Happy now,
Cam

Just visited www.jandr.com and they're charging $149 for it. How did you get it so cheap? How did Sony Store screw you over? Did they say they were going to get it in but later changed their minds?

I just phoned J&R, mentioned the Remote Central site and that others who posted messages here had gotten it for $US115 and the guy put me on hold, came back a minute later and said, they'd honor the price.
Sony Store:
My girlfriend placed a "special order" for one at the Sony store before Christmas. She checked on the order just before Christmas and they couldn't find the order. They did finally find it, but said it wouldn't be in till January. I phoned the Sony Store to get and ETA and they had totally lost the order. My girlfriend phoned and they said they "Could pull some strings" and get her on the waiting list. Ummmmm NO! One of the reasons she wanted to get it from the Sony Store was for warranty and support reasons, but with customer service like that....I'll take my chances with mail order.

I can't believe it... J&R is matching prices off the INTERNET? Yikes, most places I know REQUIRE a flyer from another store or at least they'll CALL the other store for verification. It's amazing that the retail world has come to the point where they can TRUST the internet. So working it out... $110 * 1.55 = $170CDN + probably $10-20 shipping + tariffs + GST... getting pretty close to what Sony Store sells it for anyways. (Assuming they get some back in "in 2 to 3 weeks" as they claim.) I think I'll wait so I can get the Sony Store 30-day full refund period and local warrantee. I won't really need the remote anyways until I get the JVC SVHS-ET VCR that I want.

I went to the SONY store to see one the RM-AV2000s and they don't stock it and have never seen it. They'll order me one if I pay for it first, no-thanks.
Strange how these SONY "EXPERTS" don't even know what it looks like. I wonder if it IS made by SONY?

I guess I'll go to a HIGH-END audio/video store.
Shame on SONY.

It's nice to see at least the service at the Sony store is consistent!

I was treated very poorly at the store in London Ontario while shopping for a mini disc unit. Saved almost two hundred bucks by purchasing it at the Audio Centre.

I wrote Sony to complain about the way my wife and
I were treated and enclosed a copy of the bill to prove I made a purchase.

I do not even consider the Sony store when looking for electronics.

Hi
Ilooked for this remote at the sony store also.
I asked a local store to match the price of
another store and they did. They ordered it,
and I had it in three days. $129
Great remote for the price.

I received my RM-AV2000 from J&R a few weeks ago.
With exchange the remote came to $195.60CDN + $17.11 duty for a total of $212.71 CDN.
Sony Store price $199.99 x 7% GST= $213.99
Price-wise it's a wash. However, if there are Canadians out there STILL waiting for the Sony Store to get them one...there's no comparison.
