Wow, so Sony has finally released a universal remote control. Anyways, after reading the review, I have a few questions:

I have a Sony GA8ES receiver. On the remote, if you press "Video 1", for example, it will turn on the amp, set the amp to Video 1 mode, turn on the TV, and turn on the VCR. Will the AV2000 do this in the LCD area when you set the remote to "Amp"? Will I have to use one of the three "system control" buttons to do this? The reason why I'm asking this is because I tried a Marantz remote, and it always came back with a "code too big" error when I tried to program the "Video 1" or other multi-funciton buttons into the LCD portion.
Another question I have is that I've looked over the picture of the LCD screen in the review, and I see a Disk Skip Forward button (D. Skip). I was wondering if the remote also had the ability to skip BACKWARDS. I have a Sony 200 CD jukebox and it would be nice to have this abiltity.

How are the "touch buttons"? Are they quite sensitive or do they require a firm pressing to activiate? Is it easy to accidentally hit two LCD buttons at once?

My GA8ES remote doesn't accept codes from recent JVC VCRs. I have been told by a salesman that it's because JVC changed their codes about 2 years ago. If this is true, I'd like to know if the AV2000 will work with the new VCRs. (I'm sure it does, since this remote came out very recently, right?)

Anybody know if this remote is available in Canada yet?

Thanks a lot for your help, guys!

Ryan, I have the exact same receiver.

1) When you push VIDEO 1 on the AV2000 it will turn on the AMP and set it to that input, however it won't do anything else. You cannot learn the "macro-like" buttons from the original remote.

2) There's no d-skip backwards, but you could program it somewhere else.

3) The buttons are quite sensitive - a light touch will do. It's hard to explain, but it's not easy to miss-hit. :-)

4) Hmm, I'm not sure of the exact answer to this, but my guess would be "yes, it will work".

5) Check out any popular Sony dealer or "The Sony Store". If they think they don't carry it, tell them it can be ordered as a "service part" from Sony of Canada.
