I just bought the av2000 from Computablity.com what a deal but that's not the problem. Here goes: The Yamaha recievers have the feature on the remote to adjust speaker outputs, sub outputs, low freq output etc.. I have been able to program them in fine but every time you go to use them it seems to skip about five spots in the categories (ex. If I want to change the rear right channel output lower I have to go through all of them again to get to the right one.) Also the increments jump from normally going to 1 db increments to 10 db intervals and there doesn't seem to be any in betweens. Anybody have anything like this happen to them and their Yamaha's?? Any info would help. TIA. And thanks Daniel for the great site.

Kevin,

Elsewhere on this list someone talks about IR strength, and learning. The person indicated that by holding down "volume" too long, the AV2K learned the whole "stream" and then when he pressed it on the AV2K, his volume went through the roof.

This sounds similar to your problem. Perhaps you have to "tap" the key when you learn it?

I had the same problem with the volume control. What I found was that when I programmed the button, I held it down on the Yamaha remote. This caused the sony to record the consistent increase in the volume. I know that the manual says to hold it down until you hear a beep, but this just does not work correctly with all functions. Try to press the button once and it should learn the function fine.

Thanks fellas I figured it out the other day. I really love that remote. And so does my wife!! Although I wish I did have more macros but for that price I can't complain.
Cheers
