I just got my AV2000 in the mail today. It works on every componenet in my system with the exception of the most important one. It doesn't control one single aspect of my DA90-ESG receiver. I've used the pre-set codes and then the learning feature and I still can't even get the volume to work. Now I'm reading here about mods. What do I have to do to get this to work??? Who do I need to get in touch with??? Thanx in advance for any input on this.

I don't know if this will help you at all, but the posting entitled "Disappointed with RM-AV2000" by Don Kulinowski on 12/11/98 discuss the non-compatability of ANY universal remote with certain Sony receiver. I think they are called VisionTouch receivers. Take a look at the thread before it disappears.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I checked the Sony site and found out that your receiver IS a VisionTouch. You are out of luck on this one!

Scott,

I totally sympathize. The DA90ESG will not respond to any universal remote commands since it's frequency is too high (the remote and the receiver). There is a company called Xantech that has worked out a solution, but it will run like $300 extra so that u could use any Universal AV remote. I think Sony will be abandoning the vision touch platform. Anyway, I am at least down to 2 remotes. Hope this helps.

I too had a VisionTouch. I have now bought the 50ES (Which also does DTS) and have canned my old receiver.

Sony technicians were smoking some serious stuff when they came up with the visiontouch. Its a cool idea, but won't learn a lot of things and has some serious -oops- holes.
