The enclosed sony remote will not function with other brand DVD players (cursor/menu control).
Does anyone know if the RM-AV2000 will work well with the ES30?
The RM-AV2000 sounds great, but I hesitate to spend more money with Sony if their enclosed remote doesn't work. Also, I've read in the group that the 2000 doesn't work with the ES50 receiver.. Thanks, JIM

I've been using my RM-AV2000 with my STR-DE50ES for about 4 weeks now without any problems.

Sure, the RM-AV2000 won't learn the "Function" buttons from the 50ES, but then they won't learn them from the 415,915, 925 or 30ES I've played with either as these are "macro" functions which change the input, turn on TV's etc....

As for everything else, I haven't come across any other commands (appart from the bi-dir related ones) that I can't reproduce on the RM-AV2000...

I posted a reply to your question in the pronto forum before, about also not being able to control cursors on my Panasonic. I have a RM-AV2000 and it is able to learn the cursor controls for my panasonic DVD no problem.

I am sure you would have no problem programming it to do anything you want on the 30ES, except bi-direction. I was even able to do function amp switching easily. I myself have the STR-DE925 and the exact same remote you have, so I know it will work! The only drawback is that you are unable to re-label buttons, so if you want different sound fields and such you will have to remember what button is what.

I also have a Pronto on order and I am sure it will do all the things I want also, you may want to check into that if you want to have EVERY button replicated, plus re-labeling ;) I love gizmos!
