First, this is a great website. Next, my questions:
1) Yamaha DSP-A3090
Any known issues?
2) Sony CDP-CX88ES w/ RM-DX260
Part of the reason I got this CD changer is the grouping feature and the LCD display of all the CD titles. Will I lose that functionality with the AV2000?
3) Sony SAT-A2 DSS
I like the thumb/joystick. Will I lose this functionality (obviously there is no thumb controll on the AV2000), but what about the ease of searching for what is on?
4) Range
I live in a studio and would like to be able to control my AV from the bed. The problem is that all of my remotes have to control from head-on and my bed is off to the side. Can the AV2000 handle from the side or is this an inherent problem with IR? If so what is the most cost efficient way that I could get around this problem?
Thanks in advance, Bill

#3: I don't remember exactly what model Sony DSS I've got, but the only thing I had to add was the "EXIT" button...I use that one constantly myself. Using the arrow buttons on the AV2000 works great for channel surfing.

#4: The highest angle I've tried it as was about a 45% angle to my components. The AV2000 worked fine, but my range was only about 13-14 feet.

#4: I have a similar set-up where my equipment is almost at 90 degrees to my normal viewing area. I was not happy with having to get at a "better" angle to control my equipment. So....I purchased an IR repeater called HOTLINK from smarthome.com ([Link: smarthome.com])
It is really meant for equipment that is behind solid doors that will not let the IR signal pass. It works well for this application also. The only esthetic drawback is that you have to route the IR LED's wires (~22ga black color)to the front of each component and stick them (each LED came with a sticky pad) to the IR window on each component. Although they are flat and small, they are still visible. I like the performance. The receiver for the HOTLINK is connected via a short wire to the control box. It can be aimed at the target area and comes with small tabs of velcro to afix it in the desired position. It has better sensativity than the original IR receivers of each component (In my case all Sony). The control box fits easily behind the equipment and the power source is a small transformer that is connected via a seperate wire. It is rather expensive at $45, but it was a small price to pay to have my furniture and equipment arranged the way I wanted.
