Does anyone know if there is a way to access the RGBHV HDTV input without using Mithsubishi's HDTV tuner or 15 pin control interface.

Yes, it can be done. Search for Mitsu in the forums and there is a post with a solution. It does not use the VGA like port on the Mitsu, instead it uses the RCA Component (5 jacks) inputs. Works on mine great!
