I am in the process of researching Satellite Systems - I used to have DirectTV but cancelled it when I moved, thinking that I would try digital cable. Since my cable provider completely sucks and digital cable is not much better than my old cable setup used to be, I am back in the market for a DBS system. So here is my question - Dish Network has a good deal running now where I can basically lease their equipment and get my four TV's completely set up for about $3 more per month than DirecTV would cost, including the 501 receiver that includes DD output and a digital video recording system. I don't really care about not owning the equipment (especially since it's probably obsolete in 2 years anyway), but I am concerned about the overall quality of Dish Networks - both in terms of their equipment and signal (picture quality and sound quality) and general customer service. I had a good experience with DirecTV and generally like to stick with past experience but a $700 up-front savings is hard to resist. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has experience with Dish Networks, positive and negative. Thanks.

Steve,
I think the reason for a lack in interest in attacking this subject is that it is one that has been beaten into the ground MANY times. Search this forum and you will get plenty of reading material!

Are you interested in HDTV? Dish just added CBSHD.

Thanks, Randy, for the input. I've checked out some other threads and have gotten some good input.
