Has anyone found a way to center the VGA image on screen right to left on the Sony HD-100 as you can in the service menu of, say the RCA DTC-100?

Also in search of discrete codes for "Output Select"

The line forms behind me and about a thousand other chumps who have to deal with this box.

The word from every tech guys from Sony is "We're working on it." I don't know what that means. Do the codes exist and they got lost somewhere? Dunno. Do they need to be beamed from outerspace into the boxes?

If I or anyone come across these codes they'll be posted pretty quick I assure you.

My understanding is that this is a known problem without a known fix. They'll probably need to upgrade the firmware to fix this. Hence, yes, they will be beaming help from outerspace.

Would someone mind explaining what exactly the problem is. I plan on buying a Sony HDTV and this reciever this winter, so I want to make sure I am completely informed on any problems it might have.

Right now there are not any real "problems" with this machine. People like myself have been trying to gain more discrete control over this box, in particular, discrete control of the video output selection vs. scrolling and discrete control over the aspect settings. It would also be helpful, as Dan points out, to be able to center the VGA image internally instead of on your display.
Sure this box has some advantages over the RCA beyond the obvious aestetic, but for code wranglers like myself, the RCA DTC-100 with its generous discrete functionality, is the way to go right now.
I expect that Sony will be updating their product very soon. If I did not demand so much control over the unit, I would go with Sony.

I've got the same issues as well. I just returned the HD-100 due to the VGA output shift to the right. My telephone conversation with Sony said the same thing that "it's a known bug and we don't know when it will be fixed."

As for the discrete output codes, it's a pain to have to toggle through the entire complement of choices. Hopefully, soon someone will be able to come up with the discrete codes to select the particular output one desires rather than having to go through the entire assortment.

When Sony fixes the VGA problem and someone comes up with discrete output codes, then I'll repurchase the unit. I very much like the full integration, on one guide, of OTA digital, cable and DirecTV.
