I have the 6000 now attached to my TN61HX81 with component cables as well as S video for the SD. When I change over to the HD mode the picture stays in the squeeze mode and none of the zooms or grey bars work...
and some of the other channels have a fish eye look.

When watching the same channels in SD mode... I have the letterbox version but you can tell that the picture is not as clear using the S Video... is there something that i have set wrong somewhere?

I have the older Tosh set that does not have the theater mode setting but I am not sure what that setting does anyway....

I thought that there was a software update that was to help the 4:3 set owners ....?

Call Toshiba Customer Service and tell them you have an Echostar 6000 receiver and your HDTV doesn't work. They are supposed to be providing a hardware fix (ie. scaler) "very soon" now.

Unfortunately, the TN series of Toshiba RPTV's does not do the squeeze required for HDTV to be displayed properly. I got tired of waiting for the "Toshiba fix" and traded in my TN61X81 for a 61HX70, the 2000 model that has the squeeze feature built in. If Toshiba ever does make the scaler it will probably sell for $200 to $300 dollars:(

You have to find a willing dealer who will take an HDTV that doesn't display HDTV and be willing to spend a lot of money to swap. Fortunately, I found a dealer who wasn't aware of the issues with this TV so they were more willing to take it as trade. Good Luck:)

The person that actually owns the 6000 has the same issue that the picture if fisheye'd on his too. Is there an adjustment that I need to look for on the receiver or should I have him call Panasonic for their answer?

I only borrowed it to see if I was going to get one and so far other that my Toshiba issues like the white line problem, I now have issues with the set not doing a correct 16:9 pic... I guess this is what I get for wanting the HD too soon...

Have him call Panasonic since there is no adjustment on the 6000 to solve this issue.
