I live in a condo where satellites are not allowed on the outside of the building. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to pick up a signal pointing the dish through a window?

It depends of the window.

Some glass with tint in them , have a sort of metal vapor deposit that will prevent reception.

Best way is to try. You'll need a 24" or 30" to get good result , especialy during rainy days.

If you have an exclusive use balcony or patio, then the condo can't stop you from putting up a dish. Go to www.dbsforums.com and search on FCC to find the exact information.

There isn't as much DD as you would think. Most of the new PPV (also letterbox!), a couple of Starz channels, HBO HD and Showtime HD. And even then, some of the movies my be DD2.0 instead of 5.1. Try a search in the programming section of www.dbsforums.com to find the exact numbers.
