Looks like our national broadcaster isn't quite ready to face August 31, 2011.

This doesn't surprise anyone does it? I actually expected the whole country to get an extension like in the U.S.

As for the video in the above link: Again they seem to be telling everyone: Subscribe to something or be left in the dark. Confusing indeed.

I pick them up on 20-1 anyhow, all they have to do for me is just stay there.

Should have forced them pay CTV and/or Global to run as a SD subchannel in those areas if they didn't want to build digitally. Extending analog is just a dumb idea.

In the 1940s the government of Canada built some office towers out of wood for the duration of WWII, with the intention of taking them down after the hostilities were over. They building were emptied in the mid 1980s and demolished in the mid to late 1990s. Apparently they were still strucurally sound even then...

So by the MotherCorp not converting, will those transmitters still be there fifty years later?

[I don't have anything against it. But I really don't see the point. They had years to get ready for it. If a one year extension is needed, maybe allowing it is the right thing, but if I was the CRTC I would not have granted an open extension. I would have had forced them to make a time table for those markets and stick to it (i.e. I am not sure if the 22 is the ones that have a retrieve, if that was it then I would have forced them to make a list and change two stations a month over the next year) because let's face it, I am willing to bet that the CBC won't really move on those markets and in a year time they will ask for an other extension.
