Just saw a commercial on CTV (9-1 in Toronto) on May 1st regarding the Digital Switch. Below is from the web site. Click on the stations and you will find a map of CTV's DTV coverage which will be accomplished using CH9 VHF.  It is only 7kW average ERP, so it isn't the much higher power they are using today for analog.

Digital Transition
The government has mandated that the Canadian television industry convert its over-the-air transmitters to digital from analog in various markets across the country by August 31, 2011.

The vast majority of Canadians will not be affected by this conversion, as they either receive their television signals by satellite, cable, or over the Internet, or they already have over-the-air digital tuners.

However, Canadians who receive their TV signal using a rooftop antenna or rabbit ears may experience a loss of service following the conversion. In order to continue enjoying Bell Media's television services, Canadians who are affected will need to:

-  Subscribe to a digital TV service, such as Bell TV; or
-  Subscribe to cable; or
-  Purchase a new HD TV with an integrated digital turner or purchase a digital conversion box for an existing TV, both of which are available at The Source

Areas that will be affected are defined by the government as:

- Markets with a population of 300,000 persons or more;
- Markets that are a national capital or provincial capital;
- Markets that are served by more than one television station;
- Programming that is broadcast on channels 52 to 69 in any market

Click here to see a list of CTV transmitters that will be affected, including the new channel numbers and date the conversion will occur.

At Bell Media, we are committed to our viewers and are making significant investments to enhance your total viewing experience. These changes include digital upgrades to towers, transmitters, master control operations and editing gear, new high definition cameras and video servers, new studio sets and HD backdrops, as well as HD interface equipment.

From local stations to national services, Bell Media is refreshing Canadian television while expanding Canada's digital infrastructure. We are dedicated to delivering to Canadians the most robust and best viewing experience possible.
