Beaverton... I'm not certain there's any HDTV that can actually be received from there (assuming you're looking for HDTV).

But basically for long distance reception, you want the biggest antenna you can get ("deep fringe"), mounted as high as you can get it with a clear view towards what you want to receive, with a rotor, with a preamp, with quality RG6 cable.

I tried an eight-bay UHF antenna on Canal lake, northeast of you, and got a fuzzy TVO on ch. 19. My guess is that you will not get any digitals in Beaverton. For analog I use a "flying saucer" style 22" disk on a 40' mast and amp. About seven channels come in clearly. The omni directional reception of the disk eliminates the need for a rotor.

Does the crow have to fly over or around any mountains to get there? I've seen different results in city areas where local hills intevene, and you may have a bigger problem.

Unfortunately, you're just the customer that satellite is ideal for, regardless of the fact that it costs money.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
