I'm noodling about with my HD Homerun and there seems to be some ducting on tonight. A new station appeared on WXXI sub-channel 7 (16-7). Its some groovy graphics with 88.5 WROR in stereo. I tried both my Sony & LG and they don't "see" this channel. What's up with that?

Anyone else see, or not see, this sub-channel?

Well none of my 2 tuners (Samsung TV and Bell 9242 STB) pick up the WNED-DT radio channels either therefore I assume the same is happening to you with the radio carriers on WXXI-DT. I have no means to try any Rochester station.

Maybe some ATSC tuners are designed so they can also tune and play audio only carriers as well but probably most TV related tuners only care about video+audio carriers and therefore discard the audio only ones. For instance with FTA STBoxes they log the audio only carriers in the Radio section while carriers containing video and audio are log in the TV section and even the remote has a key dedicated to switch between TV and Radio. That is the best explanation I can come up with. Maybe someone else who can receive those Rochester as well can chime in.

WNED radio stations are available only as alternate audio tracks, which aren't tuned like normal stations. On my Sony I have to go into the settings menu in order to change to them, and they aren't labelled as you'd expect either.

I'm having a similar issue with my LG television. Access to the alternate audio channels is only available via the quick menu's "Multi-Audio" item, and it fails to list streams such as WNED's radio feeds, even though it happily picks up any old alternate-language feed whether it's a proper extra tongue or description track, or just a downmatrixed mono feed. Worse, I can't seem to locate any troubleshooting information for my TV model related to this issue.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the firmware, at least for my TV model, does not properly implement SAP enumeration.

Mine only shows WNED's radio stations as alternate language tracks... I think Spanish and something. They're also only on 17-3.

17-3 Spanish just comes up as a mono downmix out of the left channel on my TV, and I only see English and Spanish.

It may be too early for a bunch of station engineers to meet after hours at NAB and share stories of how they've implemented these things, thus eventually coming up with a standard approach. Then, of course, that has to be communicated to the TV manufacturers, not all of whom provide firmware updatability in their TVs. So we'll see....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
