I thought I'd try this thread and see if others can add simple fixes to what appear to be rather perplexing problems. I'll start.

I moved into a new house last month and finally got my OTA antennas installed. I'm running separate VHF and UHF antennas and using a joiner to combine to feed the TV sets in the house. The problem I was encountering was weak signals on VHF channels. I thought perhaps one side of the connection on the antenna boom had come off or that I had a defective connector or coax union on my cable runs. Nope! The previous home owner had run his own coax cables using the twist-on style of F connectors. However, he twisted the connectors onto the insulating jacket of the indoor coax cables thus removing the shield of the cable from the connector itself. It made all the difference in the world for VHF reception.
