I'm looking for a direct comparison of these 2 antennas? The 2084 seems to be a clone of the 4221. Is it similar in signal reception?

Would 2 x 2084 diplexed offer better signal strength than one CM4221? Would it be as good as a single 4228 in an attic install?

Digiwave seems to get a lot of bad press on another popular forum, but I have heard others say that they're decent.

Just a point -- diplex means to combine or separate two signals of different ranges of spectrum, for instance satellite and TV antenna. Now that DirecTV uses the UHF range for some IF coming down from the dish, you can't diplex it any more. But back to your topic, you'd MIX the signals, not diplex them.

Regardless of the word, you run into phase issues when mixing antenna signals. The length of cable from antenna to mixer and the relative distance of the antenna to the transmitter (yes, down to the inches) are factors.

WHY did Digiwave get some bad opinions elsewhere? I've heard that some other fora are pretty hard on professionals, but love DIYers....

I didn't take the time to look at the Digiwave, but it could indeed be a clone of the 4221. After all, my grandfather had an antenna that looked like the 4221 on a mast on his roof. In 1954.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The Digiwave version of the CM4228 works better for me. The one that's hinged. When you assemble it, flip one side so it faces the opposite direction. Here in St. Catharines you can catch Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo with just that one antenna.
