So I finally got my Yamaha RX-V363 to be controlled by my cable (UEI) remote, now I want to get my Yamaha RX-V363 remote to control my cable box!

This is what I know about the cable box:
It says Comcast on the left front plate and Motorola on the right front plate.
On the back it says nothing and it's big, wide and flat and sort of a brushed flat silvery color.

My Yamaha remote has a button for DTV/CBL BUT the booklet has no codes for cable boxes!

I got some codes, however, from my Universal booklet and the Yamaha accepts the following codes (ie words come on the faceplate screen saying "OK") BUT the remote still does not control channel up or down or power (or any other commands) to the Cable Box. The codes it seems to "accept" are for General Instruments and Jerrold:
0003, 0012 and 0014.

check for a model number on the bottom of the unit. Manufacturers put information wherever they want to, with no regard for whether we can see the model numbers once we've installed the units. That's not their department.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hey, I guess you can't help me much without the make and model of everything involved in the problem! ;) Sorry about that...

Here's what I found on the bottom. (I looked all over it before but in order to get to the bottom I had to move the stuff on top...)

Motorola DCT 5100/1005

I did a quick search here and only found the same as in my first post, someone saying to try GI or Jerrold. I tried the above codes that I found, maybe there is another one that might work?

I have also tried 0052 and 0055. And while the Yamaha receiver seems to accept them ("OK" displays on receiver L.E.D.), the control will still not control the cable box.

Thanks for your help!

The OK only means that you've entered a code that the Yamaha recognizes as being in its memory. That's unrelated to whether it's the right code.

I guess the only other thing to try is code search. I've seen that in some, but not all, Yamaha manuals.

Okay, thanks for the reply Ernie. Guess I'm SOL, which means I will need to buy a new Universal Remote.

Can you recommend a Universal Remote with LEARN function that will control a Yamaha Receiver, Panasonic DVD player, Motorola cable box, a Panasonic VCR, and - preferably though not necessarily - also a Samsung TV?

Looking for the cheapest one available.
Any tips or suggestions are welcome!
