Thread has gotten kinda confusing with the four/five digit remote confusion... So, my first question is... Does the 5 digit remote (Comcast Custom DVR 3 Device) work with Olevia TV's? Second question is where are the folks located that currently have that device? After dozens of useless trips to the two comcast service centers in my area, I called comcast to find out at least when these devices would be released. After being dropped once, and transferred to three different departments, I found a gal that was not only helpful, but interested in my problem. She looked back over a memo dated May 1st telling techs how to difference if presented with a question from a customer. Well, turns out that those remotes are not planed to be released in the chicago land area, and the memo was only distributed in case a customer got one by mistake... So I need to plan a road trip if needed...

If you're at the cable office and you want to know if the remote will control your olevia, if it accepts code 11610 with two blinks, it will.

If I were you I woul gat one-for-all(OFA) universal remote like the urc8910, 9910, 9960, or 9964. call and have TV code 1610 loaded over the phone.

New UEI/OFA made oem remotes for Cable & Directv use 5 digit setu codes, first digit is a prefix for what kind of device. tv's start 1****, dvd/vcr 2**** and so on. Older universal & oem remotes from UEI/OFA use 4 digit setup codes.

That's the problem I'm running into... The remotes they have are the old 4 digit ones.

Is this something I'll have to buy? I'll be doing a google as soon as I'm done here...

What's UEI? I have considered trying to find out who manufactures the remote, and obtain one from them somehow. Is that the maker?

Boy... It's funny how I can concider myself pretty savvy regarding tech stuff, and after a little digging realizing how little I know!

:Edit: Holy cow... $19.99 from radio shack for a 8 in one device? I may just give up on my comcast remote... Thanks for the heads up!

I doubt that any of the radio shack remotes has TV code 1610 on board, or though their newest UEI made remote 15-100 $29 might?

UEI stands for Universal Electronics Inc. The maker's of many cable & sat oem remotes. In addition to the universal brand One-For-All.

You have to understand that the codeset used by Olevia isn't preset into any previous released oem or universal remotes. Only recent ones that are hard to find. For sure any cable remote that only takes 4 digits, won't have this code.

Actually, according the the list compiled by Robman over at JP1 site, the new RS 15-100 doesn't have it either.

However, most recent revisions of Atlas 5 DVR w/DAY remote does have TV/1610. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to identify the ones that do have them from the older versions that do not. I don't know if this would be a positive way to identify it, but I have one that does have TV/1610 (I just tried it, and it accepted it and I tested the ir output and it matches Olevia's ir codes), and the model number written inside the battery compartment says "11055-BC2", and it's from Time Warner Cable. I've tested another one from Time Warner with "1055-WC1" in the battery compartment and it didn't have TV/1610.

Ok, I found a refurbed urc-6690 cheap on amazon, so I figured what the heck, if it doesn't work I'm no worse off than I was before and only out $15.00. Does anyone know if this will work with the olevias out of the box? If not, can codes be uploaded like some of the other modles from UEI?

The code isn't preset into 6690, and you would need to mail the remote for an upgrade to be loaded into it.

Or you can visit the Jp1 forums, and learn how to hack the remote yourself.

The current OFA remotes with modem are urc-8910, 9910, 9960, and 9964.

I don't know if this will help, but I just spent 4 hours searching for a 4 digit code to work on my UEI remote to operate my Olevia 342 series LCD TV.

The code that worked for me was 1610.

The other codes listed were 1240, 1331, and 1144.

My UEI remote is an Atlas DVR Day model. I suspect some of the other UEI remotes may have these codes in their program and one of them may work for you.

I must admit, it is nice to return to a single remote for my TV and all my devices.

I have an Olevia 232 and Comcast new (red button) 5 digit code remote. Have gone back and forth with Comcast and Syntax-Brillian for 3 days. No codes will operate tv. Tried all listed codes for Olevia as well as Phillips, Yamaha, LG, RCA. also 11610 per Edmund on this site. Nothing works. The Olevia remote rc-ltl works fine so the tv is ok. The code search function doesn't provide any code. Latest is Comcast saying their remote "may not be compatible with my equipment" Seems to me that there should be a solution. Store tells me they sold hundreds of this model Olevia and I'm sure some of these hdtv owners have comcast digital.

If you don't get two blinks after the fifth digit than that code, 11610, isn't in your remote.

You can now get a remote from radio shack with code 11610 board, its the 15-135, $20.

I have the Olevia 537H LCD TV and was unable to find a remote that worked. Via my work with Comcast, I was able to visit the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas two weeks ago. I dropped into the company that makes the Comcast remotes and they were no help. Then I found the Olevia booth and an engineer in there showed me a remote that Cox Cable uses that has the right codes to support the 537H TV. I took a picture of the remote with my phone and immediately went to ebay to find one. I purchased two and guess what, the 1610 code works. He also told me that all the new all-in-one brand remotes will work going forward as they have added the code to the latest code base. Here is a picture of the remote you want . Good luck.

alright, I have the Comcast remote that takes the 5 digit codes, and the Olevia 237-T12 model television. Will that COX remote work with this setup, controlling both the box and tv, or should I try that Radio Shack 15-135 remote?

Try tv code 11610, if you don't get two blinks after entering the fifth digit than that code isn't in your remote.
