Thanks again for all your help.

I'm getting a great picture on 4.1 and 9.1. However, during the game last night, the picture would continuously be pixelating (I'm learning the jargon). Is it only when 4.1 is in wide screen mode that this takes place? This morning, during most CBC programming, it broadcasts in 4-3 width, and the picture is perfect with no pixel breakups.

Incidentally, I bought the following antenna. [Link: thesourcecc.com]

Of all the UHF stations, Channel 24 comes in the best, and 14 and 60 are almost non-existant. The french channels are lousy but watchable, and 43 is fuzzy at best. I've turned the antenna, lifted it over my head, and turned it upside down. The picture doesn't get any better. (Not that I care as I don't want the antenna to do anything OTHER than find the digital channels).

My question to you techie guys is this. Would another antenna be better? Would an antenna with some "gain" help?

Thanks again. I really appreciate the knowledge that you offer.

As I said in my original post, I don't have experience with any of these antennas from The Source, so I can't say with confidence how well other indoor antennas will perform compared to it, but from your reception results I would say you definitely can do better. Are you willing to put up an antenna outside or in your attic? If so you should be able to do much, much better. There are some indoor antennas that will be better.

Also, check out the following thread:

For an indoor antenna, this will probably be your best bet.

I could get WWNY/WNYF (DT) last night, WROC-DT and WHEC-TV this morning, until shortly after 8:10. What kind of airwave polution starts at 8:15 in the morning (on a Sunday, too!).

Speaking of channels coming in, after writing this message I checked, and WUTV-TV and WNED-TV are coming in from Buffalo along with WUHF-TV from Rochester. In less than 220 days, these possibilities will be gone forever...

The East Ontario & West Quebec HDTV Channel Map has been updated to indicate that Sun TV has started broadcasting.

I also removed the Montreal and Northern Vermont stations as the information was out of date and they aren't receivable by the vast majority of people in this region.

I appologize for highjacking a dead thread, but since the Canadian analog shut off, the Digital ATSC OTA scene in Ottawa has changed. Most channels have gone digital in Ottawa. Here is what I get right now with a $5 pair of rabbit ears:

4-1 CBOT-DT (CBC Ottawa) 1080i
9-1 CBOFT-D (SRC Ottawa) 1080i
11-1 CHCHDT1 (CHCH) 480i
13-1 CJOH (CTV1) 1080i
14-1 OMNI2 1080i
24-1 TVO 1080i
30-1 CIVO-DT 1080i
40-1 CHOT 1080i
42-1 CTS-HD 1080i
43-1 CHRO (CTV2) 1080i
60-1 OMNI1 1080i
65-1 CityTV 1080i
