Just an update, I went out and emailed all those who replied to me from WNGS, WNLO and WNYB today, hopefully they will have some new news.

In another interesting twist, Fox announced they will launch a 2nd Network (Fox 2) titled 'My Network TV'. Basically, they will go and rip off programs that work on Telemundo, Telefutra, BBC and so forth and put them in an English-American setting.

What this will mean is that I wouldn't be surprised now to see WNLO get 'The CW' affiliation, being CBS/Viacom owns CW. Meanwhile, being that Sinclair owned WUTV is a Fox affiliate, it makes sense for WNYO to get the Fox 2 affiliation.

There is a potential spot for WNGS to now score one of the affiliatons as well, probably Fox 2, as Fox 2 will only have 12 hours of network TV per week when it starts, in comparison to the 35 hours CW will have (which interestingly means that it meets FCC requirements for it to become a 'Must Carry' station in DMAs in the USA that do not have CW affiliates. So these people, such as those in Rochester, will have their Cable/Satellite provider now offer a national feed from Miami-WBZL).

BTW: Updated the topic title to reflect the shift in this talk from just WNLO and WNYB to include WNGS and Fox2.

alebowgm,

I think in your title change you meant WNYO (currently WB49) not WNYB (TBN 26 in Jamestown).

It would make sense to me that WNLO will take the CW and Sinclair will take Fox 2 on WNYO, having both of the channels at their access and carrying both Foxes. I am assuming Sinclair would want control of both Foxes?

What was your response from WNGS? As I said earlier, I would actually prefer they stay independent and broadcast the classic TV shows that they do now. (Please note: Their website's schedule is completely wrong, they do not show any Shop@NBC or anything like that. They have actually become sort of a local TVLand.)

I hope WNLO gets CW as they will be much easier to get and have the programming most people will watch. I do recieve WNYO on 34-1 almost perfectly (even when using an indoor antenna!!) at all times, but WNLO would still be much nicer. Then it would make sense for WNYO to be Fox 2. Actually, I have trouble getting Fox with the indoor antenna from about 20 miles away--the same distance I am from WB. I wish that they would be granted a power increase by the FCC soon. It would be nice for WNGS to then stay independent as it is now.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!

It's official.

Yesterday, WNYO announced that it along with 17 other Sinclair-owned stations would be joining Fox's MyNetworkTV in September 2006.

This leaves WNLO as the CW affiliate for Buffalo.

It still leaves CW affiliation questions for WNLO or WNGS... probably WNLO though...
