Hoping I could get help making my dish network provided "5.0 IR Remote"(mfg. by echo star technologies) operate my AKAI LCT2662N TV. The satellite installer tech couldn't do it, they don't have the codes for that particular TV, and a "power scan" which searched through all the codes programmed into the remote didn't help. I called AKAI tech support and they were quite unhelpful, telling me to go to universal remotes.com, which is a site that, contrary to what the tech told me, doesn't have 'contsantly updated codes" at all! I realize this is probably an unrealistic 'dream' but I don't want to buy another universal remote. If I'm stuck with using two remotes I'll survive. Thanks, Ed

How old is that TV?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw |

Ernie, We bought it on close out at Sam's club about 5 months ago. Went to Akai's website to see if they'd show age,but they don't have any tech support there. I can look on the back when I get home tonight. ed On January 23, 2006 at 15:30, Ernie Bornn-Gilman said...

Thanks for asking how old the TV is, Ernie, really makes me think you've got an idea for how I can use the satelitte system's "universal" to operate the TV. Great to know this site exists.

I think you may have a problem...
1) The set is too new 2) The brand isn't that popular 3) The remote you have is too old and is not a true universal
