Hey all,

I'm helping a friend of mine pre-wire his house and he is going to have 4 dish receivers in his equipment closet for distribution to multiple rooms throughout the house. This gives us 2 problems:

1)IR repeater selection: Which IR targets/flashers will work with the Dish receivers and all our other standard equipment (dvd players etc). If I recall, they operate on a slightly different IR frequency than most electronics.

2) Individual control: The plan is to run all 8 IR targets back to a main connecting block and then IR flashers from the block out to the 15 or so pieces of equipment (including the 4 Dish receivers). Will all the Dish receivers respond to the same IR command? For example, if I push channel up in the living room, will the channel change on all the Dish receivers? If so, is there any way around this aside from using assignable connecting blocks?

Thanks and sorry for these very basic questions, but I've never worked with a Sat install before.

Russell

the dish remotes are capable of 15 different IR controls. But you may look at the UHF/IR receivers. They have 15 different selections also. Note!! If you want to have a DVR receiver then run two RG6 2.4 GHz or higher cables to the room or rooms where you would want one.
No job to small, many to big

Thanks for the info! That helps out a lot. Thanks for the tip about multiple runs to the DVR location as well. Fortunately, all the equipment (except dvd players) are centrally located in the equipment closet so there will be no problem running multiple lines to any of the receivers. Do you happen to know if the Dish receivers use standard 38Khz IR? It seems like I remember them using 45khz or something like that before?

Thanks again,

Russell
