Please don't laugh at my stupidity here but...

I currently own the Dish 811 HD receiver and have been having problems programming remotes ever since I owned it. I know it is RF which is causing the problem...and I have read (what I believe is everything) on how to fix it, but it just does not work for me.

Well...I have just received the 9800i from Philips and I was wondering if I purchased the new HD DVR 942 receiver, will I have the same problems that I am having with the 811. Or, does this reciever have a remote that operates on the IR frequency.

I will take whatever help anyone wants to give me (again reference the first sentence) so I don't have to shell out a half of a grand to program this stinkin' remote. Thanks for all of your help (and lack of chuckles).

Dave

All of the HD products use a combo RF/ IR remote. The remote itself sends RF to the satellite receiver and IR to TV, VCR, Aux. The receiver has IR receiving and will work with any remote that has the Dish Codes for IR 1. There are 15 possible code sets. So if you get the commands off of pronto or Universal or who ever, you could work any Dish HD with an IR remote
