I went to Dell.com to see what a customized computer would cost me and for the Processors, I only saw 1 Pentium 4 w/ HT. Then rest were Pentium D with dual core Technology. So I went to Intel and they even have Pentium D w/ Dual Core and HT technology. They even had a good little explanation on it. [Link: intel.com]

I'm thinking of getting it along with MCE2005. Does anyone out there have one of these Pentium D processors? If you do, are you liking it? You info with greatly be apprciated.
What you should choose does not end in the here and now, but how much you want to deal with it in the futre

The problem with the 8XX series: really high power draw, really high heat output.

There's a new dual core series expected late next year... code name Conroe I think... that will be much better. Much lower heat output and power consumption.

Dollar for dollar AMD beats Intel. No two ways about it. You get better performance at a better price. Check the reviews for yourself. I have an Intel 3.0 Ghz HT single core but my AMD Athlon XP 2800(non 64) beats the Intel on most things. This has been the case for a while now. There's more to performance than clock speed of the processor. Frankly, Intel has been behind the 8-ball for years. If you want top performing hardware, look at what the gamers use.
