Help,

I have a home that I pre-wire 7 years ago. I only have 2 wires on the roof for the dish. These two wires run to my head in location in the basement. This is where I have a home run to each location inside the home, for each TV. We home run everything!

My problem is that I want to have 3 seperate recievers inside the home at different locations. 2 HiDef receivers and 1 receiver extra will be modulated throughout the home to several small TV's.

There is no way to get another wire. NONE ! from the roof to the basement.

I need to have 2 wires at the dish then go to some kind of multi switch at my head in location.

I need to do this and bypass the built in LNB/multiswitch from TERK Satellite dish or something.

I'm not opposed to using Dish Net, but I really do not understand all there special switches and spliiters.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dude, you're screwed if you want DTV. You need 4 wires to the multi-switch now, and who knows how many in the future! For Dish Network, you need 3 now, and who knows how many...

Your not screwed but it will cost at least $600 for the additional equipment needed and it may not be compatible with the upcoming MPEG4 dish.

Take two outputs from the Phase III dish and run them into a stacker. Take the other two outputs from the Phase III dish and run them through 22khz tone generators and then into a second stacker. The existing cables will carry all the channels to the basement. Take the first wire and run it through a splitter and a de-stacker and into the Sat A inputs of a multi-switch. Take the second wire and run it through a splitter and de-stacker and into the Sat B/C inputs of the switch. You can also diplex an OTA signal onto one of these cables as well.

Here's a crazy thought: change dishes and dish locations. The dish does not have to be where I usually see it, up on the highest peak of the roof, stretching out like some digital arm trying to actually touch the satellites...and incidentally being a dandy lightning attractor.

You could actually put it on the ground if there will never be a bush (or a dog) standing between it and the satellites! Or on the side of the house. I put one on the inside wall of an enclosure holding pool filters and pumps and stuff, about 20" off the ground, and it worked great. Or just somewhere else! Then you can run four wires down from it, although a few months ago we started talking about installing six for our clients, and we might start doing that soon.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

We actually just ran 9 for a customer. 1 for off air, and 8 additional for sat. With all the new birds DTV is launching, and no way to fish new wires on this 4 story townhouse, we just wanted to be as ready as possible.

I have a feeling that DTV will find a way to multiplex additional LNB's onto four lines. I'm trying to imagine an 8-satellite dish. Maybe I can Photo-shop a pic.

"Ahm baaaaahk!"

I found something close enough:

So basically everything you can get on TWC on one RG 6 Coax cable takes at least 4 with a dish ?? Just kidding as I don't know for sure on either !!

Seriously how many sats/HD antennas can you multiplex on one coax cable ?
