I cannot get my 650 remote to link up with the directv H10 box. I've tried preprog code 173 and the learning modes with no connections at all. Can anyone help me?

Is the H10 receiver IR & RF all the time, or one or the other?

I honestly have no idea I just notice an RF antenna on the back. How can you tell?

Read manual? All I have is H10's remote, had it apart, seen the RF puck. I can tell you the code 173 matches the commands emitted by the H10 remote.

Edmund,
I read the manual and honestly not very knowledgeable with the terms. If I remove the RF antenna, the remote is inoperable. Thus, I assume it is utilizing RF and not IR. Is this correct?

Yes, there must be be way through the menu to switch to IR. You might ask in the Custom Installer lounge on this site.

View the Menu of the H10, go to SETTINGS> SETUP> REMOTE, there you should be able to switch to IR.

Edmund,
My receiver doesn't allow me to get in to change the settings. This may lie where people have had problems. I will try to contact Direct tomorrow.

Thanks very much for all your help.

aveng,

I had the same problem until I read some of the traffic concerning your prob. On the H-10 receiver go to menu, then setup (screen/TV will display), then navigate to remote. Select remote then change setting from IR to RF. The remote code Edmund mentioned for the MX650 is good. Once both the H-10 and MX650 remotes are on the setting "RF" you should be up ans running.

I'm also having a similar problem with the H10 and HR10-250 DVR from DTV using a MX-3000 remote. I've exhausted Universal's tech support...they are out of ideas. You mention the IR/RF issue...I'm using an MRF-300 to control the equipment. Everything in the system works great, except for the two recievers. I'm getting intermittent functionality at best...sometimes they are completely dead to the world. I ruled out RF interference by switching the remote to IR output only and have the exact same problems. The number pad rarely inputs a digit and the navigation in the guide and menu is jumpy...one push of the up, down, or side button will move the cursor several positions. These are the only pieces of equipment that i have run into this problem with. I have adjusted the IR sensitivity on the MRF-300, the positioning of the emitters on the boxes, and repeat commands on the remote program....all have little to no effect. please help!
